Analyzing the Relationship Between Domestic Resource Mobilization and Civic Space
INTRAC with the financial support of the Civic Engagement Alliance (CEA) through the Wilde Ganzen Foundation, explored the relationship between domestic resource mobilization and civic space. Does it improve the operating environment for civil society? Does it have an impact on ‘civic space’?
Faced with political and funding pressures, civil society organizations in many parts of the world are seeking to diversify their funding and strengthen their local support base. ‘Domestic resource mobilisation’ is a key strategy for these organizations. But does DRM improve the operating environment for civil society? Does it have an impact on ‘civic space’? INTRAC carried out a research to explore the existing evidence base on this issue, to identify evidence gaps, and to consider how to address those gaps.
This report, and its accompanying brief, present the findings of the scoping study, including recommendations for practice and areas for further study.
